Rachel Balcomb, Year 12

Hey Rachel! Could you tell me a bit about how you got into rowing?

I was a really competitive kid growing up and was always competing against my brother who’s 3 years older than me in anything and everything. I’ve always loved playing a whole range of sports from soccer, tennis, cricket, hockey etc
I was first introduced to rowing when I watched my two older cousins competing at their Head of the River when I was in year 6, one of them was in the 3rd VIII and the other was in the 1st VIII and it looked like so much fun.

What do you love most about it?

One of the things that I love about rowing is the feeling of finishing a race and being really proud of the effort I’ve put in. I love being able to make my coaches proud of what I can achieve.

Hey let's continue this interview another day, something just popped up and I gtg!

Yeah sure (that means full story coming soon! stay tuned)
